Highland Park Golf Course is the oldest golf course in Alabama. Originally developed as The Country Club of Birmingham, Highland Park has been the site of many important golf events including one Bobby Jones' first victories. At the age of 14, Jones played and won the Birmingham Country Club Invitation held at Highland Park. Later, the course opened to the public and was renamed in 1955 for Charley Boswell, a Birmingham native and 17-time National Blind Golf Champion.
In 1998, Highland Park went under a restoration. Honours Golf CEO, Bob Barrett collaborated with renowned golf course architect Bob Cupp, to redevelop the golf course keeping the classic design yet complimenting it with modern amenities. The golf course features numerous elevation changes, several uphill approach shots, winding creeks, generous lakes, heavily bunkered greens and scenic views of the Birmingham skyline. Along with the course restoration, Honours implemented its standard maintenance procedures which dramatically improved overall course conditions and greens. Today, Highland Park is known to have the best conditioned greens in the Greater Birmingham area.
