Honours Golf Selects Casey Smith as Director of Golf for Cider Ridge Golf Club

June 3, 2010 – Birmingham, AL – Honours Golf Company has announced that Casey M. Smith III has been promoted to the Director of Golf for Cider Ridge Golf Club located in Oxford, Alabama.  Honours Golf was awarded the contract to manage the 18-hole municipal golf course in March of this year. 

“Casey Smith will be a great asset at Cider Ridge,” said Chief Executive Officer of Honours Golf, Bob Barrett.  “He started with the company as an intern and has proven himself to be a hard worker and a effective leader.  He will help take Cider Ridge to the next level by enhancing the customer experience and the overall club operations.”                       

Prior to joining Cider Ridge, Smith served as head golf professional at FarmLinks Golf Club in Sylacauga, Alabama also managed by Honours Golf.  Smith oversaw the golf and tournament operations of this 4 ½ star Golf Digest rated course, assisted with daily food and beverage operations, as well as lodging and security operations.  During his tenure at FarmLinks, the club was selected three consecutive years by the National Golf Foundation (NGF) as the highest rated course in the premium category for customer loyalty and satisfaction ratings.  He served as Executive Director of The First Tee of Pursell Farms and was awarded 2009 Junior Leader of the Year by the Dixie Chapter of the Professional Golf Association (PGA). 

Prior to that, Smith has held assistant golf professional positions at various golf clubs including Okemo Valley Golf Club located in Ludlow, VT and NorthRiver Yacht Club located in Tuscaloosa, AL.  He is a Class A PGA member and a graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in professional golf management. 
In his new position, Smith will oversee the entire club operations as well as play an integral role in the development of Play Golf America programs, tournament operations and customer service.

Cider Ridge Golf Club features a mountain-style golf course set within a 450-home golf community in Oxford, Alabama.  Rolling, tree-lined fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and numerous water features come into play throughout the 18-hole layout.  The club, situated at the base of the state’s tallest mountain – Mt.
