Honours Golf Welcomes Jamey Davis as Course Superintendent at Peninsula Golf Club

Birmingham, Ala. – Jamey Davis has joined Honours Golf Company as the golf course superintendent of the 27-hole golf course at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.

“Peninsula is one of the premier courses owned by Honours Golf, and I’m excited about joining the team here,” Davis said. “This property has tremendous potential to grow as Gulf Shores continues to develop into a leading golf destination.”

Prior to moving to Peninsula, Davis served as the course superintendent at Bay Point Golf Club, an Honours-managed property in Panama City Beach, Fla., for nine years, where he was responsible for both its Nicklaus-designed course and Meadows country club-style course.

“We’ve seen the value that Jamey Davis brings to a property from his work at Bay Point and are pleased to bring him on board at Peninsula,” said Bob Barrett, Honours Golf CEO. “A recognized leader within the golf industry, he shares Honours’ commitment to exceptional playing conditions and impeccable service.”

Davis began his career in golf at Shoal Creek Golf Club in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., and interned at Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta while in college. After graduation, he worked as a second assistant superintendent at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga. He then became the first assistant superintendent at Timaquana Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla., before moving to Bay Point in 2004.

Davis is an active member of the U.S. Golf Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, where his local chapter nominated him to attend the GCSAA Leadership Academy with other future industry leaders. He currently serves on the board of the Gulf Coast Golf Course Superintendents Association.

For the past three years, Davis has served on the Bayer SCOUT panel, a committee of 12 superintendents across the country who provide the company with product and marketing feedback. He was also one of approximately 25 superintendents selected from a nationwide pool of applicants to attend the 2012 Syngenta Business Institute, a professional business development program developed specifically for the golf industry in partnership with Wake Forest University’s School of Business.

Davis earned a degree in golf course management from Horry Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina.
